Press Pass NYC is dedicated to helping New York City public schools start and sustain student journalism programs–and through this, amplifying student voices and inspiring civic engagement.

This showcase is just a sample of the great journalism that students at our partner schools are doing on their own news sites, and we hope you will use the links at the end of each story to visit the school news site where each story was originally published.

Since 2021, Press Pass NYC has helped launch or revive student-led news publications at 40 New York City public schools, staffed by hundreds of students in total and serving more than 25,000 teens. Thanks to these publications, thousands of stories have been published for students, by students that would otherwise never have been reported or told. We are working with 14 more public schools in the 2025-26 school year through our Journalism Adviser Fellowship Program.
