Press Pass NYC is dedicated to helping New York City public schools start and sustain student journalism programs–and through this, amplifying student voices and inspiring civic engagement.

This showcase is just a sample of the great journalism that students at our partner schools are doing on their own news sites, and we hope you will use the links at the end of each story to visit the school news site where each story was originally published.

Since our founding in 2021, we have helped start 22 active school-based student-produced news publications, both print and digital, through general consulting and two-year-round core fellowship programs, one for students and one for teachers. To date, these school-based, student news publications have engaged more than 300 student journalists daily, produced more than 1,000 student news stories, and served more than 8,000 total students.

Press Pass NYC, a non-profit corporation founded in 2021, is a fiscally sponsored partner project of the Fund for the City of New York, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, EIN/Tax ID 13-2612524. Our work is 100% donor supported and donations are fully tax-deductible.
